June 22, 2006 - Amazing Things Arts Center - Open Mike Feature
As always - a great night at Amazing Things. We were really glad to see several friends come for the open mike who are not regulars at AT. Jon Waterman drove down from Lowell and Rob Siegel came in from Newton. John Boehmer shared some piano compostions and drove in from Salem, MA. We hope to see you all again soon. You need to come out to this open mike if only to see Michael Moran on stage performing - Really !!
December 18, 2006 - The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN)- Open Mike Feature
Next Month we take on our regular "gig" hosting two nights a month at TCAN for the Open Mike. Those of you who are familiar with the Metrowest Open Mike scene know that this was until recently, one of the most popular open mikes. Our hope is to catalyze some exctitement about TCAN again. We had a nice feature on Monday - we were happy to see new faces, and several familiar faces that give us hope for the coming year. Monday night saw a "perfect storm" of competing venues and it seems that all of them had a good turn-out. That's bodes well for 2007 and the future of live music and open mikes in Metrowest!!
February 11, 2007- King Hooper Mansion, Marblehead - Open Mike Feature
We had a great time at the King Hooper Mansion last night (Feb 11 2007.) We were especially pleased that Phil's mother, who turned 91 yesterday, was able to come to our feature on her birthday. Thanks to brother Paul and sister-in-law Milli who brought her down to Marblehead from NH. Mom was able to make it up the two flights of stairs and we hope, enjoyed the show while she was there. Mom is the source of Phil's love for words and wordplay, and for that dubious (to some) gift of his sense of humor. We really enjoyed singing with our co-feature Rick Drost on several songs. Rick has written an especially hilarious new song that is sure to become a local classic. Ask him about lobsters in Cambridge.
Oct 25, 2006 - Main Street Markets and Cafe, Concord, MA - with JB Sweeney
This was our first visit to Main Street Markets. This is a nice, cozy, easy to get to, listening venue with great food and a nice atmosphere. We hope to return soon. We had many friends come out for dinner who then stayed for the evening. Next time you think of going out in the middle of the week (or a weekend night) go to Main Streets, have dinner, support local music and hve a nice evening.
January 17, 2007 - Main Street Markets and Cafe, Concord, MA - with JB Sweeney
They liked us! We got asked back and had another wonderful night sharing the stage (okay, the area just to the left of the door) with our friend JB Sweeney. We hope to return soon - again. We had new friends come out for dinner and we got to test out our new portable sound system. It works! Next time you think of going out in the middle of the week (or a weekend night) go to Main Streets, have dinner, support local music and hve a nice evening.
